LGBTQ2S+ Therapy in Kitchener-Waterloo

We live in a world that excludes and marginalizes some people just because of who they are. Among the most excluded and marginalized are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer or questioning (LGBTQ2S+) people. The effect of homophobia and transphobia on a person’s psychological well-being can be profound, leading to depression, anxiety, self-hatred, and even suicide.

How We Work with LGBTQ2S+ Folks

LGBTQ2S+ people are subjected daily to bullying, discrimination, and violence, often justified with some kind of bullshit pseudo-religion. Make no mistake: homophobia and transphobia are social issues, issues that lay with the bullies and the oppressors, not with LGBTQ2S+ people.

That being said, individual counselling can help LGBTQ2S+ people to work through the wounds that have been inflicted on them by bullying and oppression, and to give them a safe space to determine who they really are - not who other people think they should be.

If you’re an LGBTQ2S+ person struggling with your identity or wondering how to manage the consequences of being yourself, you’re an effing superhero. If you think counselling could be helpful to you in working through this difficult process, or in healing the wounds inflicted on you by homophobia or transphobia, Transformation Counselling is here to help.

If you live in Waterloo, Kitchener, or Cambridge and you think counselling could be helpful for you, call us at 519-954-4900 or email info@transformationcounselling.com to set up an appointment.
