Adult ADHD Psychological Assessment in the Kitchener-Waterloo
Looking for clarity around concentration, productivity or focus? At Transformation Counselling we offer a comprehensive ADHD psychological assessment for adults in the Kitchener-Waterloo region. Whether you’ve struggled for years, been overlooked in childhood, or just want to understand your brain better — you’re in the right place.
Why Consider an ADHD Assessment?
Many adults discover they have traits of Attention‑Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and never got a clear diagnosis. These symptoms often show up as trouble finishing projects, chronic disorganisation, or feeling behind despite your best efforts. According to Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), adult ADHD often features inattention, time-management issues, poor organisation, and impulsivity — even when obvious hyperactivity has faded.
A formal ADHD assessment provides:
Clarity on whether ADHD may be part of what you’re experiencing
A diagnostic roadmap and next-steps (therapy, coaching, accommodations)
A stronger basis to ask for workplace or academic supports (if required)
Peace of mind: whether the answer is “yes” or “no,” you’ll have better insight
Our ADHD Assessment Process at Transformation Counselling
We follow a client-friendly, evidence-based process that helps you feel supported from the first visit to the final feedback. This mirrors the best practices in Ontario.
1. Intake & Pre-Screening
You fill out a brief contact/intake form (or call us) about your concerns: e.g., focus, time-management, productivity, childhood history. We’ll ask you to collect any relevant past reports (if applicable) and set a convenient time to meet.
2. Clinical Interview + Questionnaires
In the assessment session you’ll meet with a registered psychologist. We’ll discuss your life history (childhood through adulthood), symptom patterns, work/education background, and daily functioning.
You’ll also complete standard ADHD rating scales and questionnaires (to measure inattention, impulsivity, executive-functioning issues).
According to CAMH:
“The symptoms must be present before age 12.” CAMH
We’ll explore whether symptoms were present in childhood, how they manifest today, and how they impact your life.
3. Additional Testing (as needed)
Depending on your story we may include cognitive/executive-function testing to assess memory, processing speed, attention and other factors. This helps rule out or identify other issues (e.g., learning differences, anxiety, executive-dysfunction).
We’ll tailor the depth of the assessment based on your needs — not every case requires full neuropsychological testing.
4. Feedback & Report
Once the data is collected, your psychologist writes a detailed report summarising findings:
What the assessment tells us
Whether the criteria for ADHD are met
Other contributing factors or co-occurring issues
Recommendations (therapy, coaching, medication evaluation, accommodations)
Then we meet for a feedback session, where you can ask questions and go through the results together.
5. Next Steps & Support
If you receive an ADHD diagnosis:
We help you understand your options (therapy, coaching, lifestyle adjustments, medication consultation)
If you don’t receive an ADHD diagnosis: the report still offers valuable information on what’s going on (e.g., executive-dysfunction, anxiety, learning difference)
Should you need ongoing support, our therapists are ready to help you build focus, organization and productivity strategies
