Kate has walked alongside people struggling with a wide range of mental health and life challenges and takes a particular interest in anxiety and trauma. Her philosophy revolves around helping to free clients from unhelpful patterns and ways of thinking in order to fully embrace the meaningful life they want to live.

Along with five years of experience in clinical counselling, Kate also has extensive post-graduate training and additional study in a variety of evidence-based modalities. She creatively tailors therapy to suit a client’s needs, struggles and way of interacting with and learning in the world. In this process, she draws on a variety of tools, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. She constantly works to upgrade her skills and learn new counselling techniques and she is an EMDR Certified therapist.

Kate brings her whole self to counselling sessions using humour, empathy and a non-judgmental, laid-back approach while being fully present and engaging with her clients in a way that makes them comfortable. She believes that creating a positive and collaborative client-therapist relationship is fundamental to the healing journey and enjoys watching clients learn to recognize their own strengths and find compassion for themselves. She also has a strong interest in helping people heal through mindful interactions with the natural world.

When Kate isn’t working, she likes to spend time getting lost in the forest, taming her backyard jungle, losing at board games to her children, reading, meditating, writing or happily chipping away at one of her many creative hobbies.
